Ré Phillips [], a local artist with a growing international reputation, will be launching her first Atlanta solo exhibit "Romance with Words" in downtown on November 11th from 7-11 p.m. at Space 2 (485 Edgewood Ave SE, Atlanta, GA 30312). Entrance is free to the public (21+) and RSVP is required []. A native of Georgia, and educated at Stanford University and Oxford University, Ré is known for her eclectic paintings that explore art as ethnography. Her art has been exhibited in Turkey, India, Spain, England, China, and Northern California. Her current exhibit work will explore art as activism in the seven languages she speaks. Through Ré's work flows a common stream of civil and human rights, mutual understanding, and the power of shared dialogue that she expounds upon through her artivism (art + activism). Proceeds from her painting, "Haile Selassie"(2017), will be donated the Global Education Foundation, a local non-profit that recently took a chess team from Athens, Georgia to the villages of Ethiopia to participate in an international chess tournament.
